The HVTN portal is supported by the HVTN Training Program. The HVTN Training Program’s goal is to improve the quality of site performance in order to ensure the Network conducts safe trials, adheres to regulations, and produces strong, clean data to enhance Network capacity by training site staff at all positions to efficiently and effectively conduct trials.

The HVTN OCTAVE e-Learning portal helps HVTN staff and affiliates meet these objectives by providing resources for self-directed learning about HIV/AIDS, clinical research, and HIV vaccine development and evaluation. This portal functions as a repository for trainers and educators, allowing them to select training materials to incorporate into their own training activities. Finally, the built-in communication tools facilitate interaction between trainees and trainers, which, in turn, can enhance and advance knowledge and skills gained from learning activities.
